All ballet students are required to wear a leotard to class and pink ballet slippers. Students who do not have the correct clothing will sit out of that class and watch. After 2 missed classes the parent will be contacted.

All other classes are required to wear some sort of dance attire that is easy to move in. Please see the list below for the shoe requirements:

**Jeans and jean shorts are NEVER ALLOWED **

Combination Classes: Black tap shoes with elastic ties, pink ballet (leather or canvas), a dance bag and hair pulled back in a bun or ponytail.

Tap: Black tap shoes are required. Tie up oxford tap shoes are required for ages 7th-12thgrade. Comfortable clothing. Hair pulled up in a ponytail or bun, and a dance bag.

Lyrical: We allow the students to wear 3 types of shoes for this class: tan half soles, tan Foot Undies or tan Bear Paws. Comfortable dance attire with hair pulled back away from the face, and a dance bag.

Hip Hop: Black tennis shoes are required for recital, comfortable dance clothing, hair pulled away from the face, and a dance bag.

Tumbling: NO shoes are required for this class. Ideal clothing for this class is a leotard with shorts and hair pulled away from the face.

Your teachers ask that you have all the supplies for your classes by the end of September. Students will be rewarded for wearing the proper dance attire to class. Students not prepared will sit out and watch.

Studio Rules

1. Dance payments are due at the first of the month. We have made it very easy to make your payments on time: you can drop your payment off in our drop box in the lobby, pay online, or in the Dance Shop. Payments made after the 10th will assigned a late fee of $10.00 and will have to be paid before purchasing recital tickets. We are very easy to work with so if you find yourself in a bind please talk to your dance instructor so that we can work with you on payment arrangements.

2. We welcome parents to watch during class time. There is a designated area in our lobby for parents to watch their dancer. If you sit on the landing please do not talk to your dancer during class and allow room for others to get around you. We have special watch days for the tumbling room. Please mark your calendars for the first week in November, February, and April for watch days. Sitting downstairs in the student waiting area is prohibited and you will be asked to move upstairs.

3. Spring Dance Recital is REQUIRED! If your child can’t be in the recital please let us know before January 1. You will not be reimbursed dance fees or costumes fees if you miss recital. Please check your calendar to see if you already have plans at this time. Our 2021 Recital will be May 21st & 22nd at Osawatomie High School with a 7pm performance time! Rehearsal is scheduled for the 20th, times to be distributed later.

Recital information

Holiday Recital: This is an optional recital that is only offered to the combination classes and lower level Hip Hop classes. These performances are our way of giving back to the communities we serve. Our dancers will learn a holiday routine and perform them at least on 3 different occasions during the months of November and December. Examples of the costumes for this recital will be posted in the lobby by September. Because this is an optional performance the costume fees are the responsibilities of the parents and should be ordered no later than Oct. 12. The costumes range from $35-$45. If you have any questions please see your dance instructor.

Spring Recital: This recital is REQUIRED for all dancers, all classes. This performance is very important for our staff, our parents and especially our students. There is NO additional charge for your costumes for the spring performance.

Student accommodations

In our studio we have a homework table and an area for the students to have a snack. It is located downstairs on the dance floor level. Our space is limited and we ask that only STUDENTS use this area. Our lobby is the perfect location for parents and siblings to hang out.

We are thrilled that you chose Paola School of Dance for your dancer. We absolutely love our jobs and are eager to give our time and talents to the children of Miami County. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. Your child’s happiness is their utmost importance to our staff. PSOD is a happy atmosphere and at any time your child is unhappy we want to know. We are looking forward to meeting all of you and having a successful year!
